Niton preschool Spring Term Newsletter 2022

Welcome back

We extend a special welcome to all new children and parents as we start our Spring Term.

We began our term by focusing on Chinese New Year and how people celebrate their cultures around the world. There was great excitement and a keen interest in volcanos with Paul sharing his super experiments. In the second half of the term we will look at “How to keep ourselves healthy”, Spring and celebrating Easter.

Much of our planning follows children’s ideas on a daily basis and their numeracy and literacy skills are enhanced by their individual interests.

At Niton Preschool we see the outdoors as an important part of our learning environment. During the current circumstances, Government Guidelines advise that children spend as much time as possible learning outdoors. With this in mind, it is essential that all children wear suitable clothing and we provide wellies and waterproofs (Thankyou for your payments of the consumable charge as this has helped us to be able to wash and re waterproof all our outdoor clothing).

Outdoors is full of interesting and fascinating experiences where deep level learning can take place on a daily basis.

Collection of Children

Please note that if it is not yourself collecting your child arrangements must be made with Pre-School staff as to who will be collecting, and preferably, a password given. Please try not to be late in collecting your child, as this can be upsetting for the child and these are busy times to set up for the afternoon and to clear up at the end of a day.

Obviously, in the event of an emergency, children are always cared for by staff until collection is possible, but please contact preschool to let us know that there will be a delay.

You may be charged for time that is not booked.

Looking at different people’s cultures and festivals is a great way to teach children about the world around them. We encourage children to show respect for other people’s beliefs. We will be looking at the Hindu Festival of Light Diwali, Bonfire Night and of course Christmas.
